Chalkboard: Black and White Card

"Chalkboard" is the first thing I thought, when I came across the Black and White card challenge, being hosted at Crafty Cardmakers , and the Monochromatic challenge being hosted by Country View Challenges
The below card was made for submission to both challenges.

Worked with a stamped and inked base, layered with chalkboard style sentiment. Added some flowers with white glitter.

The largest flower is hand made with chalkboard style details and glitter on the edges.

Chalkboard effect added to the inside of the card too.

Mini Book: Poem

One of my clients, a poetess, approached me for some colorful card ideas for her friend. After reading the poem, we decided on presenting it in a Mini Book, instead of a card. (I consider myself fortunate to have extremely talented clientele.)

I was provided with a beautiful picture and the poem which was to be used for this project. The picture captured the warmth of their friendship and I decided to use it as the cover. As this was supposed to be a colorful mini, black was used as the base to make the colors prominent. I took the liberty of heat embossing "Friends", in gold, on the spine.

Each page has a stanza printed on one side and ample space for journaling, or adding more photos on the other side. Other than that there are 8 colorful photo mats and tags included within.

The mini was packaged in a box.

Card: Special Heart

A very special heart indeed.

Made using white, and red cardstock (heavy) with a glittered hear in the center.

I gave the card a mosaic appearance by layering the top layer with 1 inch embossed squares (also referred to as inchies). The glittered heart is the heart of this card, and is outlined with gold.

Keepsake: Vintage Drawers

Back in December 2013, I made some keepsake Vintage Drawer boxes which were inspired by Vintage Drawers. I've been wanting to post about them, since some time, and finally, now is the time.

The inspiration came, not from one particular piece of shabby chic / vintage furniture, but from the innumerable pieces, I've been obsessed with for a long long time.

The drawer itself is made of heavy board, which was inked, layered and stamped. A small ribbon knob was added, using which the drawer is pulled out.

Each drawer was further embellished with a faux embroidered runner and doily. These were created by embossing vellum. A quilled vase, full of roses, was placed on each doily.

Tiny letters and envelopes (about 0.5") were inked, stamped, and, placed on some runners, while a rose with a pearl was placed on the others.

I love how these turned out!  = )

Altered Canvas: Cherished

I have, for a very long time, been mesmerized by Gabrielle Pollacco's altered canvas projects. After much deliberation I finally mustered courage to take on one such project. I was very happy with the results.

To complete the project I used multiple layers of cardstock. The flowers were in three shades, light blue, yellow and pale yellow, the alphabets were plain black (treated to seem like epoxy), and the vines were white chipboard (inked).

The flowers are inked and molded to give a 3D impact. Did not want them flat.

Now because this is cardstock, to make them durable they were first coated with layers and layers of home-made Mod Podge, then left to dry. Once dry they were layered and positioned on the canvas as desired.

The photomat is easily replaceable; you can use it to add a photo of your choice, or a quote or anything you like. Its basically a place holder.

And lastly, the canvas was securely packaged in a box.
And thats it! My first post for 2014 concludes. =D
