Tag: Soul Mate

"New Beginnings", is the April challenge at Country View Challenges, and that is the inspiration for this tag. To me, new beginnings is a whole lot of things, and though there are several occasions in our lives that qualify as new beginnings, love, is what all these events revolve around.

So, my entry too, revolves around love!

The colors are inspired by Vintage Romance (which was the theme for a Tag Swap which I had intended to participate in). The roses on the corners are drawn and colored with pencil, while the background is stamped.
A vellum heart is layered over cardstock and glittered vellum.

A distressed layer is stamped with 'soul mate' and some bling added for detail.
and that is about it!

Miss You Already: Stitching Cardstock Project

There comes a time in our life when we need to move away from our near and dear ones due to several reasons. Just the thought makes our heart sink and we begin counting the days, hours, minutes and finally seconds to the goodbye, which, part of us hopes would be short lived. This was the thought behind "Miss you already".

Now the technical aspect, this ladies and gentlemen is the first project where I've actually stitched the cardstock by hand. A kind of "ring binding" type stitch on the right and straight simple one on the left. Taking into consideration all the effort that went into stitching, I have proudly entered this project into "Challenge #218 Stitching" being hosted by MTTC.

A closer look at the stitches and the sentiment, which is hand stamped and cut. A beautiful organza bow with an embossed anchor button center.

Ample space to write your heart out! because there is always lots and lots to say when we are missing someone. =D

Well, that just leaves one more thing to say ... Happy Crafting ;)

Craft March Challenge 2: Vintage

Yes this is a much delayed post, sorry.
So the 2nd and last challenge for March, as decided by Khadija is "Vintage". (It's the last challenge for March because between all the orders, freelance projects and organizing an exhibition scheduled for the 31st of March (inshallah), I am not getting any time to myself )

Challenge 2 : Design anything with a Vintage theme.

Here is what Khadija designed; I'll post my project tomorrow inshallah!

As per Khadija, this is a 15 min project -excluding the time spent on making the flower-.

Craft March: Project 8 - "I Adore You"

Yup, I really do ;)

*Sigh* its been a very long, very busy and a very tiring week so far, alhumdolillah. I had completed this project on Sunday or Monday, but just didn't get a chance to post. So without further delay, I give you Project 8 - I Adore You!

The beauty of this card lies in the white roses. Each rose is hand made using the Tim Holtz die; the largest with 7 layers, medium with 6 and small with 3. The flourish in the background is white chipboard, and the cardstock is from Memory Box. I don't remember the exact name of the pa because two of Memory Box stacks got mixed somehow, and now I cant remember which is which. The little 'dew drops', I don't know what to call these. They aren't exactly rhinestones, but something on those lines. The dew drops were inspired by Erum Tasneem's cards - her recent collection has bursts of glitter balls, and bling and they look really nice. Added some trim to give the card 'the complete look.'

I wanted the roses to be pure white. I simply shaped the petals without using any ink or paint on them.

The tag is layered too.

thats all folks!

Love, Grow, Cherish!

The three magical, yet extremely powerful words set the theme for the card that I made for a very special fellow crafter, Shereen Aftab.

When one is designing something for a client, there are many factors that one has to be mindful of, and at many times these factors curtail our creativity. But designing simply for the love of crafting is a totally different ball game.

I love designing using numerous elements, mixed media and several techniques; all of which is visible in this tag/card. I went all out with this one!

The base is in the tones of Off white, and the second layer is from Vintage Vogue (tones of grey) from Many Happy Returns. So basically the colors used here are soft, and simple- Pink, off white and grey.

I started working on this from the base, using 4 different sizes of flowers. The largest was made using the DCWV Black Currant stack (and yeah, if you have been a regular follower of my blog you must have figured by now that this is one of my favorite stacks). Arranging the flowers was the most challenging part of this entire project followed by positioning the Prima Swirls. But I managed both tasks successfully and was happy with the result.

No card is complete without a pretty little butterfly- had to add one here.

So once everything was put together, I held in my hand a beautiful masterpiece that was all set to travel.

Happy Crafting!
