Scrapbook: Frozen

A couple of months back, I had the pleasure of making a Frozen themed scrapbook for little Zaynab. For the cover I decided to add a picture of all the characters, with a snow topped plaque, that reads Zaynab.

Tried to capture the slight shimmer added to the snow, but failed miserably. (PS: the "snow" might look soft and foamy, but it actually is pretty hard and long lasting. Happy with my recipe)

Below I am sharing some of my favorite pages:

Keeping her age in mind, I added a little photo wallet, accordion style photo mats, and tit-bits which I felt she would enjoy.

 Keeping in theme with frozen, and snow, I covered the edges of the box with snow too.

Chipboard picture frame added to the box, so Zaynab can add in here picture there too.

She loved the album, and so did all her friends at school. 

Her aunt shared a picture of the name banner I had made for her when she was tiny, hehe, she still has it up in her room. <3

I love the colorful seabed too!

Scrapbook: Turquoise and Peach

Sharing with you today, a scrapbook done for an 18 year old, whose favorite colors are peach and turquoise.

I used cardstock from the Authentique Classique: Elegant stack, combined with some peach cardstock,  mainly from the Rustic stack. The resin frame is from Prima, while the blooms are hand made, by yours truly.

I had decided on Authentique Classique Elegant for this project, which was recently released, but did not realize that finding the 12 x12 Authentique Classique Elegant stack would be such an ordeal. Most of the vendors were carrying the 6x6 stack and the ones with the 12x12 weren't shipping to Pakistan. Very thankful to Artful Crafting for having this shipped in through their vendors in time for me to complete the project.

So below are some closeups of the completed scrapbook.

I absolutely love this design and wanted into incorporate it in a manner that it doesn't look too blank and blends with the theme, which was basically turquoise and peach. So I colored the flowers and added a hand stamped and cut butterfly to it for detail.

Below is another gorgeous cardstock design which I used on the pages themed for shopping. I added some makeup to it for detail.

Oh and the pocket, it holds some trendy tags. Below further details from the shopping themed pages.

Altered Canvas: Cherished

I have, for a very long time, been mesmerized by Gabrielle Pollacco's altered canvas projects. After much deliberation I finally mustered courage to take on one such project. I was very happy with the results.

To complete the project I used multiple layers of cardstock. The flowers were in three shades, light blue, yellow and pale yellow, the alphabets were plain black (treated to seem like epoxy), and the vines were white chipboard (inked).

The flowers are inked and molded to give a 3D impact. Did not want them flat.

Now because this is cardstock, to make them durable they were first coated with layers and layers of home-made Mod Podge, then left to dry. Once dry they were layered and positioned on the canvas as desired.

The photomat is easily replaceable; you can use it to add a photo of your choice, or a quote or anything you like. Its basically a place holder.

And lastly, the canvas was securely packaged in a box.

And thats it! My first post for 2014 concludes. =D

Scrapbook - All About Him

Hello wonderful people!
My post today is about a scrapbook that I recently completed for a client. What made this challenging for me was the request to use mostly Lime Green with a combination of other light colors. Usually guy stuff is blue and browns, but I think the end result was pretty satisfactory. I did add in a dash of brown, as I couldn't resist...it went so well with blue.. you know.. I had to give the lonely blue some brown company.

Did the cover in stripes, they seem to be my favorite these days. Also these reflect all the colors used inside, I like giving a preview of whats inside.

The page distribution was listed by the client, so I just went along with it. Adding lots of customized detail in the process. For example, one page was dedicated to his passion for photography, so I added a custom "Keep Calm" embellishment there with some cameras, tags and photo mats.

The next page was dedicated to his love for enjoying life! So I merged that with the passion for photography and added a Polaroid photo frame there, with some colorful, cheerful elements.

This scrapbook was inspired, as requested by the client, by the Graduation Scrapbook posted earlier. Lots of similar elements have been used in this album too. Will focus on whats different here. 

Special Touches

1. Tags with Pockets

Used tags with small pockets for the page dedicated to friends. This gives ample space to not only journal but add multiple pictures of beloved friends.

*Another very special touch is the background; plain cardstock, was handstamped, inked and finally sprinkled with green confetti to create a one-of-a-kind design*

2. Vellum Wings

Added handmade vellum wings to the page dedicated to "Dreams". This is the first time I used vellum for a scrapbook. Absolutely loved the results!

3. Customized Sentiments

Most of the sentiments used in this project were designed by me specially for this project. The Travel page holds most of them-- from the passport, to the boarding pass to the ID, its all custom. There are similar custom sentiments added all through the album.

Oh, and did I mention these were all removable! Lots of journaling space for all those fun trips!

Craft March: Project 8 - "I Adore You"

Yup, I really do ;)

*Sigh* its been a very long, very busy and a very tiring week so far, alhumdolillah. I had completed this project on Sunday or Monday, but just didn't get a chance to post. So without further delay, I give you Project 8 - I Adore You!

The beauty of this card lies in the white roses. Each rose is hand made using the Tim Holtz die; the largest with 7 layers, medium with 6 and small with 3. The flourish in the background is white chipboard, and the cardstock is from Memory Box. I don't remember the exact name of the pa because two of Memory Box stacks got mixed somehow, and now I cant remember which is which. The little 'dew drops', I don't know what to call these. They aren't exactly rhinestones, but something on those lines. The dew drops were inspired by Erum Tasneem's cards - her recent collection has bursts of glitter balls, and bling and they look really nice. Added some trim to give the card 'the complete look.'

I wanted the roses to be pure white. I simply shaped the petals without using any ink or paint on them.

The tag is layered too.

Another Scrapbook In the Making!

Peace be upon you!

Just wanted to share some of the pages of another scrapbook that I have been working on; and this time its a chipboard scrapbook, with a very different shape. Lets just say I designed this one myself ;)

It is approximately 7" x 6", with the DCWV black currant theme (that is black, pink, grey combination). Video with the details on the cardstock, embellishments, stamps will follow completion.

I've experimented with lots of fun techniques in this scrapbook which I look forward to sharing with everyone.

 I plan on working on the cover right at the end, so here is the first page; it has an acetate pocket which is embellished with bling flourish from Prima. There are 3 tags, and there is lots of room to add many more. The tags are embossed, and inked.

Here is another page with a small foil pocket, which holds a cute little tag. Some more heart bling here with trim and foil accents.

I am super happy with how this turned out. These are double pockets with spacious photo mats. I designed this to hold 2 photo mats, BUT you can easily fit 3, and the two pockets turned into three as I was putting them together... haha what fun that was.

There are many more pages to go, which I must complete in the coming week. I'm pressed for time with an upcoming exhibition, but loving every minute!
